Formentera moves to the rhythm of music.<\/h2>\n

A season of live music begins in the town squares of Formentera in June. On Thursdays you can listen to world music<\/b> live in Es Pujols, on Fridays you can listen to rock in Sant Ferran<\/b> and on Saturdays you can listen to jazz in the square of Sant Francesc<\/b>.<\/h3>\n

This musical genre is also the focus of the Formentera Jazz Festival<\/b> directed by Maxwell Moya Wright, a former member of Ojos de Brujo from Formentera. Numerous legends and true stories circulate around the island about the presence on Formentera of musicians such as Bob Dylan, Gilberto Gil, Pink Floyd and Bob Marley during the 60s and 70s. The Formentera Jazz Festival<\/b> arose from this spirit of inspiration that Formentera engenders in artists and musicians.<\/p>\n

Another place for listening to live music is the Craft Markets. There is usually live music in the central square of the Mola Craft Market<\/b> (Wednesdays and Sundays from 4 pm to 10 pm), and the atmosphere is livened up by the terraces of the surrounding bars. It is also common for the Sant Ferran Craft Market<\/b> to offer live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. During the month of August, this timetable is extended to include Mondays and Tuesdays.<\/p>\n

In September, the Guitar Festival<\/b> is held in Sant Ferran; two nights of live music with leading local and foreign musicians, organised by the luthier and musician Ekkehard Hoffmann (Ekki), from Formentera Guitars. The promoter of the initiative has lived on the island for 26 years running his workshop, where he welcomes musicians from all over the world and teaches them how to make their own guitar, in a handcrafted way, combining craftsmanship, culture and tourism.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]
